Phoenix Catholic Campus Ministry
Catholic Campus ministry is an experience of the Church's presence and ministry to the entire community involved in higher education. Campus Ministry gathers the Catholic community for prayer, worship and learning so that the light of the Gospel shines on the academic community.
SR. LAURA ZELTEN, OSF | Director of Campus Ministry
Sr. Laura serves as Catholic Campus Minister and Newman Club Co-Advisor through the Diocese of Green Bay. A native of De Pere, WI, Sr. Laura is a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross. She graduated from St. Norbert College with an undergraduate degree in Education and a Masters of Theological Studies. She has completed her certification in Spiritual Direction from the Franciscan Spirituality Center in La Crosse, WI. Sr. Laura is bilingual in Spanish and English.

FR. Kevin Ripley | Sacramental Minister
Fr. Kevin grew up in Pulaski with his older brother Kyle and parents Rick and Cathy. After graduating from UW-Madison in Mechanical Engineering, Fr. Kevin went to Mundelein Seminary for six years and was assigned as Parochial Vicar of St. Raphael the Archangel Parish in Oshkosh for the past three years. In addition to being involved at UWGB, he is the Director of the Kairos year, accompanying the new seminarians for their first year living at the Holy Name of Jesus House of Formation. Personally, Fr. Kevin enjoys fishing, skiing, kayaking, reading, exercising, and spending time with his two nephews.

Mark | Student Outreach Coordinator

Bree will be heading up Small Groups this year and working to train leaders. She was part of our small group pilot program last year and is excited to see this ministry reach more students on the campus of UWGB. Nick Vogel | Coordinator for Liturgy, Music & Student Engagment
Nick grew up in Door County and is a graduate of UW-Green Bay, where he was involved in the Phoenix Catholic program. He is married to Rachel, who serves as the Liturgical Accompanist. Together they have three children and are members of Holy Cross Parish. In their free time they enjoy gardening, bicycling, backyard baseball games, and music that gives God glory and honor.

Rachel Vogel| Liturgical Accompanist
Rachel is the Liturgical Accompanist Musician for the Catholic Program serving with her husband Nicholas. They have three wonderful children. Rachel graduated from NWTC in the field of Education. She enjoys growing in faith with family, friends, and all those she meets.

Mark | Phoenix Catholic Student Org President
Mark is a senior here at UW-Green Bay! He is the president of Phoenix Catholic as well as a Student Outreach Coordinator for Catholic campus ministry. He is studying communication with an emphasis in mass media and a minor in marketing. For Mark, Phoenix Catholic has been the best community, and his faith has grown tremendously because of the opportunities he has been given as a member! His favorite event is the annual Walk to Mary, and he is so excited to go back to the SEEK conference in 2026. He cannot wait to serve our community this school year!

Sawyer | Phoenix Catholic Student Org Vice-President
Sawyer is a Sophomore at UW-Green Bay! He is excited to serve as Phoenix Catholic Vice President this year and provide some of the best dinner ideas to date. He is majoring in Environmental Policy & Planning and is hoping to get a city planning job in the Green Bay area, as he has always had a passion for planning and geography! Phoenix Catholic has been his favorite part of being at UWGB so far, so he is looking forward to doing more events with the group in the future, especially the weekly dinners. He cannot wait for another great year!

Chloe | Phoenix Catholic Student Org Treasurer
Chloe is currently a junior at UWGB and is studying elementary education. She is serving as the treasurer for Phoenix Catholic this year! Phoenix Catholic has given her a place where she feels welcome on campus, along with many wonderful friends. Her favorite event is the weekly dinners. She loves to hang out and catch up on everyone’s week while eating a home-cooked meal. She is very excited to serve the UWGB community this year as a part of Phoenix Catholic!

McKella | Phoenix Catholic Student Org Secretary
McKella is a senior majoring in communication with an emphasis in mass media and a minor in arts management. She is so excited to serve as the secretary once again! Her favorite event is the annual fall retreat. She loves to be active in the performing arts, spend time outside, spend time with her family, and line dance on occasion!

Mike Kline | Phoenix Catholic Advisor
Mike is going into his 37th year in the 2024-25 season as the head coach of Green Bay men's and women's cross country teams. He is also the Assistant AD of Compliance, Student Welfare, and Student Services. Kline landed the Green Bay coaching position while still a cross-country student-athlete in 1987.
